Dreaming Upside-down

Today we read Tom Peterson's short story "Dreaming Upside Down" after analyzing different map projections. The story is about what the world would be like if it were flipped upside down. Tom Peterson was making important points about the importance of EMPATHY and the reality of APATHY in our society. The moral of the story and the map analysis is the importance of looking at the world differently; if we look at the world from different perspectives it can be vastly different than what we experience in our own lives.

We then moved on to talk about the foundations of globalization. Those foundations lie in the early trade routes like the Silk Road. Mercantilism was the word of the day - we discussed theory behind this economic thought. Tomorrow we will examine it in great detail!
