Understanding How Globalization Influences Our Everyday Lives

The first two days we spent getting to know each other a little better.  I'm thrilled to have each and everyone of you in my class this semester.

On Thursday I asked you to tell me a bit about your morning routines - I then asked you to rethink your routine and rewrite it without the products brought to you as a result of globalization.  This was a difficult task.  As grade 10 students, it is sometimes easy to overlook just how globalized our society actually is because we live it everyday.  However, if we are to live as global citizens in a globalized world, we must learn about the people, cultures and issues around us.

On Friday, we started to look at current events - we examined newspapers as a structure of media and we compared that to TV newscast as a structure of media.  What is important to note as we move into the course is to be critical of the information presented to you.

Moving into next week we will begin covering content around "historical globalization".

Have a great weekend!
