A New Competency!

After our Easter Break we are starting fresh with a new competency. The competencies that remain are smaller than the first, which constituted approximately 25% of the course.

This competency is "Examine the foundation and expansion of contemporary globalization".

We started by looking at the three events that resulted in a change from historical globalization to contemporary (modern) globalization as we experience it today. These three events were 1) WWI, 2) the Great Depression and 3) WWII. With the devastation caused by these three events, stakeholders around the world had to think about changing the way that things had always been done. This laid the groundwork for international organizations that would provided financial assistance to new countries developed from the war, or those devastated by the war, as well as ensure collective security to prevent world wars in the future.
